Office Worker Pay Raise

Why is it that every time it comes to giving the office-assistant personnel a pay raise, there is never any money left in the budget? There is always money for administrators and supervisors, but never any money left for the people who are doing all the work.

I am sure the Board of Supervisors knows that we cannot go on working with what we are paid. Between the high cost of housing, the rise in utility costs, the increase in the cost of gas and the high cost of groceries, we need at least a raise of 7% to 10% to get up to other counties. If they think that a 1% or 2% raise is going to help, they are living in their little dream world just because they can afford to do whatever they want with their salaries.

The county of Ventura is not competitive with the private sector in salaries or benefits. We are also well below the majority of other California counties.

The Board of Supervisors needs to live up to its responsibilities to all county employees.
