From Times Staff
A Ventura special tactics officer early Sunday shot and killed a 25-year-old man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting last month of a grocery store clerk.
Alfonso Acosta Delgado Jr. was pronounced dead shortly after the 2 a.m. shooting near railroad tracks behind his grandmother’s home. Delgado had barricaded himself in the garage for at least five hours, police said.
He was shot once as he tried to flee, said Lt. Carl Handy. He was carrying a German-made assault rifle, Handy said.
