Oklahoma City D.A.

Re “Prosecutor’s Days in the Saddle Ending in Controversy,” May 17: The nation should be grateful to Oklahoma City for providing us with a new working definition of “tough on crime.” Oklahoma County Dist. Atty. Robert H. Macy and police chemist Joyce Gilchrist are good examples of what happens when law enforcement agents begin to think they are the law, rather than agents of the state. They are hideous warnings.
Jeffrey Pierce and the others who survived this kind of infamy should direct their attorneys to sue Oklahoma City into oblivion. As for Macy and Gilchrist: They should have to spend some time in their rooms.
