Veteran Police Sergeant Named Officer of Year
A lawman with more than 30 years’ experience who volunteers on several professional committees has been named Simi Valley Police Department Officer of the Year.
Police Sgt. Fred James started his career as a Ventura County sheriff’s deputy in 1969 and joined the Simi Valley Police Department two years later. He has served as a training and patrol officer as well as a detective.
James, who now supervises the narcotics unit, was a charter member of the Simi Valley Police Officers Assn., and currently serves as its president.
