Environmentalists Challenge Water Plan
Environmentalists demanded that a federal irrigation project provide minimal water for threatened bald eagles in the drought-parched Klamath Basin, or it could find itself in violation of the Endangered Species Act again.
The Oregon Natural Resources Council filed a 60-day notice of intent to sue the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation over its decision to allocate all the water in Upper Klamath Lake for threatened and endangered fish, with nothing for farms or the largest winter population of threatened bald eagles in the Lower 48 states.
