Re “Disruptive Students Test Many Novice Teachers,” May 23:
The large majority of students in L.A. classrooms are willing and able to learn. Unfortunately, valuable classroom time is devoted to keeping a small minority of students on task. During Stanford 9 testing, this situation is much more critical. At a time when an optimal learning environment must be created, one may still face a situation where unruly kids disturb the learning or testing environment.
It is a shame that the learning of so many is placed in jeopardy by the actions of the few.
