GAME 3 NOTES

San Antonio’s Sean Elliott won’t tell, but Sunday could be his final game.

“I’ve decided but I am not saying anything. I’m going to wait,” said Elliott, who is in his 12th season in the league. “I don’t know what more I have to prove. If I am going to play, it is because I love to play the game. If I walk away, it is because I don’t have anything to prove any more and I want to take it easy.”

If Elliott, who didn’t play Friday, decides to call it quits, it will be after an injury-plagued season one year after he underwent a kidney transplant.

“There are times when I know there are things I used to be able to do but can’t now,” said Elliott, who takes medication for his kidney twice a day and was limited to 52 games in the regular season because of injuries to both knees and rotator cuff. “About two months ago, it was really frustrating when I really couldn’t push off my left leg and couldn’t drive to the basket.”

San Antonio Coach Gregg Popovich and his Spur teammates have been amazed all season with Elliott’s resiliency.

“Nothing hurting on me is kidney related, but I’ve had my ups and downs,” said Elliott, who entered Friday’s game against the Lakers averaging five points and 20 minutes in 11 playoff games.
