From Associated Press

Two poems from the book “Broken Hearts . . . Healing: Young Poets Speak Out on Divorce,” published this year by Poet Tree Press.

PARENTS

My mom doesn’t get along with my dad

And this makes me very sad

For I do get along with my dad

And this makes my mother mad

I want to go live with my dad

But my mother says that’s bad

But I think that it would be good

And I think that I should

But life here isn’t so bad

And leaving would make my mother sad

So here I am torn between the two

And still I don’t know what to do

--Bryan, 12, California

MY TWO HOMES

Most people have one home,

but I have two.

One of my homes is with my

Mom.

My other home is with my

Dad.

I know they love me.

That’s why I like having

My two homes.
