Defending the Past

Re “Rumsfeld’s Battle,” editorial, May 23: What makes you think that Donald Rumsfeld is going to put forth new military reform proposals that take into consideration advances in technology? He has been too supported by, steeped in and party to the old-time military religion to change his stripes radically. That’s why he was President Bush’s and the GOP’s choice for secretary of Defense.
