The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the nation’s largest guerrilla group, decapitated 11 peasants and dumped their bodies into a river in rural Colombia, police and a local priest said.

The killings took place over the weekend near the village of Tierralta in the northern region of Cordoba.

“The peasants were traveling by boat on the river when they were kidnapped,” said Joaquin Pachon, a priest in Tierralta. A police spokesman there blamed the guerrillas.
