Suit Against Halaco Allowed to Proceed
From Times Staff Reports
A federal district court judge has rejected a request by Oxnard smelting plant Halaco Engineering that a lawsuit against it be dropped.
The plant’s lawyer, Arthur Fine, had contended that the Santa Barbara-based ChannelKeeper had no grounds for a suit because no substantial number of its members had suffered injury from the plant.
ChannelKeeper filed suit last year, alleging the plant is leaking contaminants at Ormond Beach.
