Two aides to Donna Hanover resigned rather than be reassigned as part of the escalating divorce battle between Hanover and her husband, New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.

Two members of Hanover’s staff of four were informed that they would no longer be working for her, a City Hall source told Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Hanover’s chief of staff, Kathleen Madras, and spokeswoman Joannie Danielides submitted their resignations to Giuliani’s chief of staff, Tony Carbonetti, instead of being involuntarily reassigned to other jobs within city government.
