From Times Wire Reports

In a ruling that could end Britain’s ban on euthanasia, the country’s highest court agreed to hear a terminally ill woman’s appeal to allow her husband to help her commit suicide.

Diane Pretty, 42, paralyzed from the neck down by advanced motor neuron disease, wants her husband, Brian, to be immune from prosecution if he helps her kill herself.

The hearing will be held Nov. 14-15. Legal experts said that, given the circumstances of the case and Pretty’s health, a speedy ruling was expected.

Currently, her husband of 25 years could face a jail term of up to 14 years if he helped her commit suicide.
