Insanity Claim Rebutted in Racial Killings Trial
A black man who allegedly killed three whites in a racially motivated shooting rampage near Pittsburgh knew he was breaking the law and should not be acquitted by reason of insanity, a prosecutor argued.
During closing arguments, prosecutor Edward Borkowski said even Ronald Taylor’s defense psychiatrist conceded that Taylor knew right from wrong.
The jury is expected to begin deliberations today.
Taylor’s attorney, John Elash, concedes Taylor shot the victims but argued that he was “an evil, deranged person” and too mentally ill to be legally responsible.
