‘Hal’s’ Weighty Issue

Regarding the protest of “Shallow Hal” by the National Assn. to Advance Fat Acceptance (Morning Report, Nov. 9): I saw this coming since the first trailer for “Shallow Hal.” Ironically, this film probably employed more “heavy” actresses than any other film released this year.

I was a stutterer as a child, yet took no offense when the “A Fish Called Wanda” stuttering scandal broke out years ago. Does that make me an insensitive jerk? Perhaps, but I had better things to do than to publicly march, displaying how overly sensitive I was.

Does anyone have a thick enough skin for humor anymore? Get over it. Life is tough sometimes. Don’t go to this movie, but don’t condemn others who choose to. We need a good laugh. Get some perspective, especially in these trying times.
