Bosnian Serb Twins Arrive to Face Charges
Bosnian Serb twins indicted for beating and killing detainees at a prison camp in Bosnia-Herzegovina were taken to the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague after their arrest in Yugoslavia.
Predrag and Nenad Banovic, 32, were arrested late Thursday at a market in Obrenovac, south of Belgrade, the Yugoslav capital, where they were selling peppers, Yugoslavia’s state-run news agency, Tanjug, reported.
Each faces life in prison if convicted of any count of individual criminal responsibility for the murder and inhumane treatment of prisoners at the Keraterm camp in northwestern Bosnia, where they allegedly served as guards.
Meanwhile, Pasko Ljubicic, 35, a former Bosnian Croat military police chief indicted for atrocities allegedly committed during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia, surrendered to the U.N. court Friday.
