A third war crimes indictment against former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, including the gravest charge of genocide for alleged atrocities during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has been put before the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague for approval, prosecutors said.

Milosevic already faces two indictments accusing him of crimes against humanity for alleged atrocities carried out by Serbian forces in Croatia in 1991-92 and, in 1999, in Kosovo, a province of Serbia, the main Yugoslav republic.

Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte asked the court to confirm that the new indictment contains enough evidence to go to trial.

Milosevic will be asked to enter a plea in court if the indictment is confirmed. He has refused to enter pleas to any charges.
