Long-Term Effort May Necessitate War Bonds

“Proposed Bonds Offer Way to Support the War Effort” [Oct. 28] states that Treasury officials strongly suggested there is no need to undertake such a borrowing program, given that the government continues to run a budget surplus.

If the war on terrorism continues for five to 20 years, there may be a need for ways to finance it.

The American people deserve the opportunity to invest in the future of our children and grandchildren. We must win the worldwide war on terrorism and continue the struggle for a worldwide peace.
