Consider a National Identification System

Share

A Nov. 14 letter commented negatively about the possibility of national ID cards. However, if based on the Social Security system, a photometric card could be backed by its national database. This would positively identify a person, and it would be checked against a database that is virtually impossible to compromise. This makes the card virtually counterfeit-proof. It would not have any more information than is now provided a bank or credit checking agency. There is no greater invasion of privacy than that of a driver’s license, so I fail to understand why a law-abiding citizen would object.

Why did it take a tragedy like Sept. 11 to change our out-of-control immigration laws? Our politicians have had their heads buried in the sand for too long and should take full responsibility for this tragedy. Allowing any degenerate into our country is criminal.

Student visas are a joke. Many who hold them never attend school and overstay their visas.

We need a 25-year moratorium on all immigration into this country, in order to adjust to this onslaught of immigrants. We have had enough. Our schools are overcrowded, there is not enough housing and there is gridlock at all times on our roadways--sounds like a Third World country. Our way of life is being sacrificed because of rampant immigration.
