War Crimes Suspect Flown to Hague

THE HAGUE — A former Bosnian Croat military policeman charged with the murder and persecution of Muslims during the 1992-95 Bosnian war was handed over by Croatia to the U.N. war crimes tribunal on Wednesday.
Pasko Ljubicic, 35, was taken to the tribunal’s detention unit in The Hague after flying to Amsterdam on a scheduled Croatia Airlines flight from Zagreb, the Croatian capital. He turned himself in to Croatian police earlier this month after a year in hiding.
The Hague tribunal indicted Ljubicic for crimes against humanity over his alleged role in atrocities against Muslims in central Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he commanded a military police battalion.
The main charge against Ljubicic relates to a raid on the village of Ahmici in April 1993, during which more than 100 civilians were killed. His lawyer said Ljubicic felt confident that he could refute all the charges.
