Homeless Shelters to Require New Photo IDs

From Times Wire Reports

Homeless people who seek shelter at National Guard armories this winter will be required to pose for a photo identification card before getting a place to sleep.

As a security precaution, the National Guard has asked the Emergency Housing Consortium, which runs the cold weather shelter program in Sunnyvale and Gilroy, to supply clients with new picture identification cards even if they already have one.

The agency already gives computerized cards to clients that allow workers to keep track of where they are staying and how often.
