Three tornadoes tore through parts of northern Bangladesh, leaving 10 people dead and nearly 50,000 homeless, officials said.
Nearly a thousand people were injured and at least 10,000 mud-and-straw or tin-roof huts were torn to pieces as three separate twisters hit about 50 villages in and around Gaibandha district Friday.
Many villagers were returning from mosques as the twisters struck, said Islam Hossain, a government administrator in the region.
