Defining the Appropriate Roof

Share

Phyllis Glazer and Miriyam Glazer write in “Sukkot Still the Season of Our Joy,” (Oct. 3) that the Talmud suggests that Sukkahs are shacks “through whose roof one must be able to see the stars at night.” But that is not exactly right. Rather, the Talmud states that even if one cannot see the stars, the Sukkah is kosher as long as rain can enter through the roof.
