Cheerleaders Face a Sis, Boom, Ban
Are high school cheerleaders mixing too much raunch with their rah-rah? Some members of the Chatham County School Board in Georgia think so, and they want to ban dirty dancing from halftime shows.
The board will vote Nov. 7 on a proposal prohibiting “lewd gestures, inappropriate comments, foul language and suggestive or vulgar comments.”
Yvonne Holmes, whose daughter is a cheerleader at Savannah’s Johnson High School, says the girls aren’t doing anything wrong.
Board member Lori Brady disagrees. She said she witnessed the wanton wriggling while riding behind the Beach High School marching band during a parade.
