Times wire reports

An outlawed leftist group bombed a Coca-Cola Co. bottling plant and said the attack was in protest against U.S.-led strikes on Afghanistan.

No one was injured in the early morning blast at Atmakuru in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

“The People’s War Group Naxalites left a note saying the attack was in protest against American military action in Afghanistan,” a senior state police official said.

A statement from Coca-Cola India said the attackers locked up security guards in a room before bombing the boiler plant, an administrative building and a parking area.

Naxalites, named after the eastern Indian town of Naxalbari where their movement began decades ago, have traditionally attacked landlords and law enforcement authorities.
