National Fuel Tax

America is headed in the wrong direction. Gasoline is cheap, SUVs are getting bigger, oil imports are rising and clean air for our cities seems to be an unattainable goal.

There is a logical solution to this, which will help to finance the war on terrorism as well. The solution is a national tax on fuels such as gasoline and diesel. The increased price of these fuels will cause people to make decisions when buying cars, trucks, boats, ATVs, etc., that will reduce fuel consumption. If we tie the tax to the expenditures required to fight terrorism, Mideast nations will have to recognize this cause-and-effect relationship when they decide to support, fight or ignore the terrorist groups in their countries. After all, they want our money.
