Steps Toward Sleeping in Times of Terrorism

The People’s Pharmacy of Oct. 8 does a disservice to all those working in the sleep field and the sleepless, by giving three minor suggestions for sleep as a cure-all for those affected by the events of Sept. 11.

The first thing someone suffering sleepless nights should do is schedule an appointment with their health-care provider to rule out any physical problems that may be disturbing their sleep.

If it comes down to stress and anxiety, which is quite common these days, there are any number of solutions; discussing one’s fears with loved ones or a trained counselor can be a start. Assuring your children of your love and desire to protect them can help the rest of the family as well.
