38 Killed in Attack on Buses; Rebels Suspected

Suspected UNITA rebels attacked two buses in Angola, killing at least 38 people and injuring dozens more, state radio reported.
The attack occurred Saturday in Gabela, about 160 miles southeast of the capital, Luanda. Both buses were carrying civilians, the radio said.
National Union for the Total Independence of Angola rebels have stepped up their activity lately in a bid to force the government back to the negotiating table. A peace deal reached in 1994 crumbled in 1998.
