Floods Kill 30, Leave 125,000 in Need of Food
From Times Wire Reports
After weeks of heavy rain, rising flood waters in the southern Mekong Delta have killed at least 30 people, mostly children, officials said.
At least 125,000 others are in dire need of emergency food aid, authorities said.
In the worst-hit province, Dong Thap, floods inundated more than 50,000 homes, said Le Phuoc Sang of the provincial Floods and Storms Control Bureau.
Rescue teams were working to distribute food and evacuate residents. Most evacuees were staying in makeshift roadside shelters, Sang said.
