From Times Wire Reports
Tropical Storm Erin, the fifth of the 2001 Atlantic hurricane season, was moving toward the Caribbean, but was a long way from land, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
With sustained wind of 60 mph, Erin’s center was about 975 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, forecasters said.
It was moving west-northwest at about 18 mph and was expected to stay on that course and speed for at least another day, putting it several days from making landfall.
