Bake Sale for Pentagon

Share

After reading “The Military: Is Help on the Way or on the Wane?” (Commentary, Sept. 5), regarding concern over the potential lack of money for the Pentagon budget, I was struck with a solution. For years schools have had to rely on money from fund-raisers such as bake sales to fund library books, sports equipment, extra materials, etc. What if the Pentagon held a bake sale and/or garage sale to fund all the extra little goodies it feels it must have? Each state, county and city would hold it on the same day each year. Let’s see, Memorial Day would be a good possibility. It’s already a government holiday, so everyone would have the time. Hey, if we’re willing to fund schools this way, why not the Pentagon?
