Current Account Surplus Soars in Japan

Japan’s current account surplus more than doubled in July, Ministry of Finance figures showed. The current account surplus, which is the broadest measure of the flow of goods, services and money in and out of the country, widened 138%, seasonally adjusted, to $7.3 billion. Economists expected a $4-billion surplus in July after it narrowed to $3.1 billion a month earlier.
Exports rose 1.9% and imports rose 0.2%, seasonally adjusted, from a month earlier.
