WTO Postpones Decision on China

Because of the attacks in the U.S., negotiators decided to postpone a decision on whether to admit China to the World Trade Organization
“This kind of thing compared with that kind of thing--we have to reschedule,” said chief Chinese negotiator Long Yongtu.
Informal meetings will take place today and Friday before a formal gathering Monday, WTO spokesman Keith Rockwell said.
Diplomats had a self-imposed deadline of today for completing work on the terms of China’s membership, but the attacks left them unsure whether U.S. negotiators will be able to get the guidance they need from Washington.
