Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah offered to help the United States find the perpetrators of attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and urged Washington to avoid rushing to conclusions about those behind them.

He also warned against blaming Arabs and Muslims in general for the attacks and complained about death threats and attacks on them since Tuesday.

“We in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are fully prepared to cooperate with you in every way that may help identify and pursue the perpetrators of this criminal incident,” the official Saudi Press Agency quoted Abdullah as telling President Bush in a telephone conversation.

Abdullah has been running the day-to-day affairs of the oil superpower since his half-brother King Fahd suffered a stroke in 1995. The kingdom is a key regional ally of the United States and hosts thousands of U.S. military personnel.
