Treasury Creates Unit to Combat Terrorism
The Treasury Department announced that it has created a special team to fight terrorism, focusing on tracking down sources of financing.
The effort comes in the wake of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
“The team is designed to increase our ability to identify foreign terrorist groups, assess their sources and methods of fund-raising and provide information that will make clear to law enforcement officials how terrorist funds are moved,” said Jimmy Gurule, Treasury’s undersecretary of enforcement.
