Re “Antidote to the Liberal Monotone: Blogging,” Commentary, April 4: Norah Vincent needs to be reminded that the United States was founded and fought for by flaming liberals--men and women considered traitors because their politics were so far left.

She might also examine the root of the word “progressive,” which describes the politics of those she attempts to lambaste. She should be thankful that “the self-important” Los Angeles Times holds the liberal notion of the importance of public discussion to democracy and therefore gave her ink space to present her viewpoint. And finally, she should carefully examine her foundation to see if she is actually “defending” democracy or inadvertently subverting it and promoting its demise.
