Help Is on the Way for Dog Adrift at Sea
A salvage tug has set out from Hawaii on a $50,000 effort to rescue a dog left aboard a drifting Indonesian oil tanker after the crew was rescued by a luxury liner last week.
The captain of the Insiko and 10 members of the crew were rescued Tuesday, nearly three weeks after a fire killed a crew member and left the ship without power or communications. The body is still aboard.
The tanker captain wasn’t allowed to bring his 2-year-old dog with him on the luxury liner, according to the Hawaiian Humane Society.
Officials with the salvage company said it would take about two days to reach the tanker.
