A man accused of killing seven co-workers asked office colleagues to sign his will as witnesses four days before the shooting, one of theemployees testified in Cambridge for the prosecution.

Michael McDermott, 43, a software engineer, is on trial for gunning down his co-workers Dec. 26, 2000, allegedly as revenge for Edgewater Technology Inc.’s plan to withhold a big portion of his wages to pay off taxes owed to the IRS.

The defense claims McDermott was insane at the time, suffering from schizophrenia, and unable to understand his actions. But prosecution witnesses described McDermott’s as calm and “jovial” in the week before the killings.
