Suicide Law Upheld
Re “U.S. Cannot Block Oregon Suicide Law, Judge Rules,” April 18: On April 17 U.S. District Judge Robert Jones ruled that Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft had no business in determining the pain and suffering a terminally ill person must endure to assuage his particular form of guilt (actually a common right-wing trait) in dealing with death.
Ashcroft and his ilk love to tell other people how they must spend their last days and cut them no slack, even if these dying persons are in deep pain. Hooray for Jones, a ray of sunshine in a morass.
