Unrelated Trial to Begin for Terrorism Detainee
A man suspected of funding terrorists is going on trial--but on charges that have nothing to do with terrorism.
Instead, Mohamed Hussein is charged with two counts of operating a money transfer business without a state license.
No terrorism-related charges have been filed. Attorneys have said Barakaat North America simply helped Somalis in North America send money to loved ones.
The Bush administration has accused Al-Barakaat, an international network that included the company, of financing Al Qaeda.
Jury selection begins today.
