‘Bread Baker’s Apprentice’ Wins Top Honor in Cookbook Awards
Peter Reinhart’s “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice,” a book about artisanal bread baking, was named the best cookbook of the year by the International Assn. of Culinary Professionals on Saturday night in San Diego.
A proponent of slow-rise bread baking, Reinhart is an instructor in Johnson & Wales University’s culinary program and is co-founder of Brother Juniper’s Bakery in Sonoma County. He is author of four previous books on bread baking and spirituality.
The International Assn. of Culinary Professionals, which holds its cookbook awards annually, is the largest organization of food writers, cooking teachers and food professionals in the world. Here are the award-winners, by category, announced at the group’s convention:
