Prosecutors Won’t Block Kline’s Hacker Interview

From Times Staff Reports

Reversing course, federal prosecutors said Tuesday that they will not block Judge Ronald C. Kline’s attorneys from interviewing a Canadian computer hacker who allegedly found child pornography on the jurist’s home computer.

Prosecutors abandoned their objections this week after learning that Kline’s attorneys have already discovered the hacker’s identity.

Kline’s attorneys have argued the hacker might have been working as a law enforcement agent when he broke into Kline’s computer. If so, a judge would probably throw out the pornographic evidence police found in Kline’s home, ruling that it was obtained as a result of an illegal search.
