43 Workers Still Being Held, U.S. Oil Firm Says

ChevronTexaco said 43 workers were still being held hostage on an oil drilling rig off Nigeria by militant youths, after 45 of the original 88 hostages were released.
Negotiations were continuing for the release of the remaining hostages, the company said.
Company spokesman Fred Gorell said by phone from San Francisco that the hostage-takers were demanding work on the rig.
