Academic Inequities

Re Madeleine Gard’s April 24 letter: Nancy Mellor’s students do have the ability to achieve; they don’t have the opportunity. Because of the inequities in our social and educational systems, all the spots in top universities have been taken for generations from students like Mellor’s. I applaud Mellor. I applaud her young people, struggling to make their way in a system stacked against them.
