9/11 Suit Figure Actually $1 Trillion, Lawyer Says
The lawyer for 700 relatives of Sept. 11 victims said his clients will amend their lawsuit against Saudi officials and the Sudan government to correct a mistaken demand for $100 trillion.
The actual damages being sought are more than $1 trillion.
The larger amount, contained in a lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., and widely reported by news outlets, was an error, said lead plaintiff’s attorney Ron Motley.
“I don’t know how $100 trillion got in there. Somebody probably typed it at 4 o’clock in the morning,” Motley said.
