Cadillac has taken the wraps off another of its upcoming models: the SRX sport wagon.

The seven-seat wagon, due in dealerships next summer as an ’04 model, will feature rear-wheel drive, a base V-6 engine with a Northstar V-8 option and optional all-wheel drive.

Cadillac has not priced the SRX, but hints that it should start somewhere south of $40,000.

Lincoln ’03 Aviator

South of $40,000--by $5--also is the starting price for Lincoln’s new Aviator mid-size sport utility vehicle, the company said this week. The $39,995 manufacturer’s suggested retail price includes Lincoln’s $740 destination charge.

The Aviator, due in dealerships in October as an ’03 model, is based on the Ford Explorer platform but has all-new body work. It will come standard with a 4.6-liter V-8 engine, five-speed automatic transmission, fold-flat third-row seating and 17-inch wheels and tires.

There are four trim and equipment levels, starting with the rear-wheel-drive “luxury trim” base model and ratcheting up to the all-wheel-drive “premium trim” top-of-the-line model with a suggested retail price of $45,865.
