Canada Calling

Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s remarks may have raised your eyebrows, but there are a lot of us out here who are just as cranky as he is about the U.S. political “system” (“Deep Breaths, Monsieur,” editorial, Aug. 26). In fact, he summed up our problems very nicely, thank you. It would be nice if we had someone on deck in Congress who’d speak up the same way. Fat chance!

Your editorial may have had more impact were you to refute any of Chretien’s assertions. To the prime minister’s list of differences I would add another: The Bush administration is hell-bent to take us to war without the advice and consent of Congress.
