Ex-British Columbia Premier Is Acquitted
Glen Clark, former premier of British Columbia province, was acquitted on charges that he used his influence to get a friend a casino license. Clark resigned in 1999 over the allegations but was found innocent of two other charges, breach of trust and accepting a benefit.
Investigators accused Clark of accepting improvements to his properties from a friend, Dimitrios Pilarinos, in exchange for helping him obtain the license, revoked after the investigation began.
Pilarinos was found guilty on six of nine counts, including offering and conferring a benefit and fraud.
