From Times Wire Reports

A Chinese court sentenced two youths to life in prison for setting a fire at an unlicensed Internet cafe that killed 25 people June 15 and prompted a nationwide safety crackdown, the New China News Agency said.

The boys’ ages were not given, and they were identified only by their surnames, Liu and Song. But the report said they were spared death because they were under 18 at the time of the crime.

A girl convicted of helping the boys was sentenced to 12 years, and a 13-year-old boy was sent to youth detention, the agency said. It was the first time those two defendants were mentioned in the case. The girl’s age was not given.
