Skull of Woman Missing for 22 Years Is Identified

From Times Wire Reports

Twenty-two years after a Fortuna woman's disappearance, a skull found Aug. 9 on Pacific Lumber Co. property has been identified by the Humboldt County coroner's office as hers.

Andrea LaDeRoute, 21, was living in Fortuna with her boyfriend, John Annibel, who was 22 at the time she disappeared in 1980. Annibel reported her missing and was a suspect in her disappearance, but was never charged.

Annibel was convicted in 1999 of the first-degree murder of Deborah Sloan, 42, of Laytonville in Mendocino County.
